This video was my senior project for Advanced Audio Video Editing at the University of Akron. I decided to do a short documentary of an inner city ministry in South Akron started by one of my friends father’s and his family. Duane Crabbs, the man who started South Street Ministries, was a fire fighter for the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Dept. when he and his wife started attending a church in South Akron. After becoming close with some of the other members of the church Crabbs decided that it was his calling to minister to the neighborhood, and the only way he saw fit to do so was to move there.

Years later, Crabbs uprooted his family from their home in West Akron and relocated to one of the lowest income neighborhoods in South Akron. Over the past ten years, South Street Ministries has become a integral piece of the Summit Lake Community, providing after school programs for youth, a bike shop program providing bikes for under privileged children, a community garden, as many other programs and services for the good of the community.
