October 8: Thinking

I’m sick of this election. Argue all you want and try and convince me why each candidate is the redemption or destruction of this nation, but i just don’t see it. Call me ignorant, but I’m just not convinced that the president is the only factor in the success or failure of our country during the tenure of his/her administration. Sure George W. wasn’t the best President this country has seen. Some for sure would argue the worst, but you can’t honestly believe that he is single handedly responsible for every problem that our country is facing today. It’s so much more complicated than that.

Now, I’m not endorsing our current president by writing this. I just wish that people would recognize that no single candidate is going to have such a significant influence that our country could either flourish or whither on his/her account.

Just recognize that in the grand scheme of things. I mean, beyond the past 8 years, beyond the next 4, beyond our 200+ year old country, that this election is barely a blink in the eye of our universe. If you want to see change, be an instrument for change rather than a mouthpiece for someone else. I’m tired of the piety of politics. We need to start practicing what we preach. The politicians that we vote for sure don’t, so why do we expect the next one to be any different?……more importantly, we don’t practice what we preach, so why would we trust anyone else to? I know sure as heck that I don’t.

So get out and vote this election….sure, it’s important….i’m sure that you have opinions and they are valid and strong, but better yet, get out and be the change that you want to see. Don’t rely on our next president to fix problems you see….that’s easy…and i promise you that you won’t be satisfied……alright, that’s all i have to say. That’s the easy part. . .
