So, I was planning on leaving around 12 or 1, but when I got around to packing up I noticed that something was missing……my guitar! I left it at the Garage last night after the open mic.
I made a phone call, and talked to Kim, one of the owners. She was nice enough to meet me so I could pick up my trusty steed.
My guitar really wasn’t sitting outside like that when i got there…..i wasn’t that dumb. But as a result of my forgetfulness, I got to take some pictures in downtown Winston.
…and eat some lunch at Krankies Coffee
So 4pm, I got on the road, driving the same stretch of 77 for the 3rd time this week.
Past, Pilot Mountain. . .
…and watching the sunset in Charleston, WV.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the posts for the September Tour. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows. Check back next week for November Tour dates in your city. I’m for sure hitting Johnson City, Wilmington, and Winston-Salem again, and there will be a few more on the November stretch. Possibly KY, and SC.
Yesterday, was the 10th and final day of the Dolson September Tour, and even though it was actually October, Day 10 was invited to join the rest of the stretch to sit under the name of September.
For the most part, yesterday was a rest day, which was much needed after days of driving on little sleep.
For my last evening in Winston I got to meet up with Jerry Chapman (The Mediocre Bad Guys), and I even got to meet my friend Josh Smith (who played the Samson Killa-ma-jigger on my album) well, his older brother Jeremiah.
We were all chillin at The Garage for open mic, hoping I’d get a chance to play just for the heck of it. I always figure, if you’re in town, you should always find a place if you don’t have anything booked. The only problem was we didn’t realize it was such a big deal, and you had to have signed up days earlier. Oh well, we stayed in case a spot opened up, and just about at the end of the night, I heard the host yelling my name. I got to play one song while a band set up behind me, but it went over pretty well, and i think i’ll be able to get some people out to the show if I book something in Winston on my return trip this November.
So today, I’m heading back to Ohio. Back to the cold from what I hear. It’s been in the 60’s and 70’s and sunny in NC, so I guess I’ll have to bundle up for the drive home.
I’ve got a few days off to catch my breath and it’s off to Chicago with Pete Nischt. Check out the songs, “Back to the Start” and “Said It All” that we recorded at my home studio back in Ohio.
Today I drove from Johnson City, TN, to Winston-Salem, NC, via Route 321 through the mountains. As you can see it was a beautiful drive.
Malcolm and I got to stop for a minute and take in the view at the Watauga Lake Scenic Overlook.
When I got to Wake, everyone was so helpful. I mean they seriously had it all together. It made set up a breeze.
Oh, and check this out! O.A.R. is playin on Thursday night!
Nancy, who by the way organized the coffeehouse, also performed some of her songs and a few covers. That girl can sing. I wish I had taped it to show you guys, but trust me on that one. All of you at Wake know what I’m talking about.
Thank you so much Nancy, and Kathy, and everyone on the Student Union Coffeehouse Board. I hope to see you guys next year. I had a blast.
